The Rebbe’s legacy
Building Chabad Centers Today
Translate a community vision into responsible planning, learning and sustainable service.
A center’s mission is carried by its people and programs, not only by its building. The Chabad House model connects Jewish education, practice and hospitality. New efforts should begin with genuine community needs and consultation with recognized Chabad leadership.
A sustainable plan considers qualified staff, finances, accessibility, safeguarding and local legal requirements. A modest regular class may be a sensible first step while those foundations are developed. Do not promise services or solicit money for an institution before its responsibilities and oversight are clear.
A place to begin
- Map unmet needs and nearby existing institutions.
- Consult leadership and local professional advisers.
- Start with a responsible pilot and transparent financial planning.
