Minyan and prayer
Shacharit, Minchah and Maariv
Meet the daily prayer services and distinguish time windows from synagogue schedules.
The three daily services are Shacharit in the morning, Minchah in the afternoon and Maariv in the evening. Their content and timing are related to the Jewish day. Shabbat and festivals have additional differences in the prayers and services.
A halachic prayer time is not the same as the start time posted by a synagogue. Local calculations, date and custom matter. Use a reliable local calendar for time windows and contact the community for its schedule; ask a rabbi about missed times or unusual circumstances.
A place to begin
- Learn the names and order of the daily services.
- Compare local time windows with the synagogue schedule.
- Use practical guidance for questions about deadlines or missed prayer.
Editorial introduction based on the linked Chabad.org resource; not a personal halachic ruling or a rabbi-reviewed article. Ask a qualified rabbi about practical observance. Prepare printed learning before Shabbat; device use is not permitted simply because a reading is saved.
